Tajuana Savage (Chef Taj) born and raised in Chicago, IL. Coming into the culinary industry with Nigerian and Southern Roots grew a love for food at a very early age of 6 years old while helping her mother, grandmother, and aunt cook for the holidays and family functions. But what was intriguing for her was baking cakes with her mom to sell at her job.
Chef Taj then went on to start her own business (TJ’s Heavenly Sweets) at the early age of 15 while in high school making cheesecakes and butter cookies to sell at basketball games and in school hallways, which landed her to be featured in Crain’s Chicago Newspaper for young Entrepreneurs (Teen Spirits Edition).
Chef Taj attended Washburn Culinary Institute which then landed her a job at her old alma mater Simeon Career Academy as a Chef Mentor. She has had a journey in the Culinary world, working for large corporations like Walt Disney World, Horseshoe Casino, Chicago Public Schools, and as Head Pastry Chef at the Shedd Aquarium, where she met Chef Jamy in 2016. Also in the year of 2016, Chef Taj was awarded with the Angel Award of the year.
Chef Taj is now the Co-Owner of TJ’s Sweets Bar, CTRL Kitchen, and J-Spice, with the ultimate goal of providing each and every customer with undeniable culinary experience that will keep them coming back every time.
